Amazing! isn't it?
Prison inmate Carlos Garcia spent months working on an escape route from Lea County Correctional Facility in Hobbs, New Mexico using a razor blade on the end of a popsicle stick. For nearly five months, Garcia used the blade to break down a metal bar, break a window in his cell and even put up plastic to create a fake window. He eventually squeezed out of the opening he had created and used bed sheets to lower himself down two stories. However, once he was out he had a change of heart and climbed back in. Garcia claimed that he could have escaped if he wanted to, but the police say that it's unlikely he would have made it past the additional security that is in place. Garcia is serving two consecutive life sentences for killing two men in 2000. Department of Corrections officials are conducting their own investigation and are inspecting all cells statewide to make sure this does not happen again.
